Customs seizes P9.86-M smuggled cigarettes in Davao City

MANILA, Philippines — Smuggled cigarettes worth P9,861,790 were seized by authorities in Davao City, the Bureau of Customs announced.
In a report released Thursday, Customs said Task Force Davao discovered a truck disguised as a courier at a checkpoint in Sirawan, Toril, Davao City on Jan. 16.
Upon coordination with the Customs’ Port of Davao office, authorities uncovered 251 master cases, each containing 50 reams of cigarettes.
The goods were found hidden among blue crates to avoid detection by authorities.
