'Gun-for-hire' group member nabbed in Pampanga

ANGELES CITY — A heavily armed police team on Tuesday arrested an alleged member of a gun-for-hire group at San Juan Baño village in Arayat, Pampanga.

In a statement, the Pampanga police said operatives from the provincial intelligence unit and Special Weapons and Tactics, supported by the local police, raided a house where the 45-year-old target was residing.

It said the man was an alleged member of the Randy Ponce gun-for-hire group.

Policemen confiscated a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with nine live bullets and a hand grenade.

The Pampanga police said charges of violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act would be filed against the suspect, who was arrested for the same offense in 2022.

On Monday,  policemen also arrested a 59-year-old man for illegal possession of a firearm at Dela Paz village in Tarlac City.

The operatives had with them a search warrant for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Two .38 caliber revolvers were allegedly seized from the suspect.
