Power Play-Imbong wins Insular 10-under crown

THE TEAM Power Play-Imbong bucked the overwhelming odds to capture the title in the Under-10 division after they defeated the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu A-Chan in the finals of the 3on3 Basketball Madness at  Insular Square over the weekend.

Power Play-Imbong trailed the higher seed all tournament long, even finishing second to the Magis Eagles in the standings at 5-1 (win-loss) to the latter’s 6-0 card  in the eliminations.

However, the cream rose to the top when it mattered the most as they routed SHS-AdC in Game 1, 13-6, before pushing through with a sweep with an 18-16 victory in Game 2.

In other results, Team Dumol defeated Power Play-Malunas, 12-10, in the finals to complete a clean sweep of the opposition and win the championship of the Under 11 division.

Team Mendoza also scored a similar sweep as they grabbed the title of the Under 14 age group. They stopped Team Bautista, 29-26, in the finals.

Team AJ Ong also swept the field, going 6-0, but had to score come from behind wins in both the semifinals and the finals to take the Under 15 age group crown. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
