Fire hits storage house in Sorsogon

502 residents evacuated in Sorsogon City due to rising flood

SANTA MAGDALENA, SORSOGON — Despite the heavy downpour brought by the northeast monsoon (Amihan), a fire broke out in a storage house in Pilar town on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Pilar confirmed in a phone interview that the fire transpired around 6 a.m. in a storage house located along the Diversion Road at Barangay Marifosque.

The establishment is owned by a certain Dennis Perdiz, who told local reporters that the fire was caused by a gas leak.

But as of writing, the BFP Pilar has yet to establish the exact cause of the fire and the estimated damage cost as investigation is still ongoing.

No injuries or casualties were reported as firefighters immediately responded to control the fire.
