Fire hits supply room in Sorsogon City hall

SANTA MAGDALENA, SORSOGON – A fire broke out in a stock room full of school supplies in Sorsogon City hall on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Initial reports revealed that the fire incident started around 9 a.m. in a building at the city hall that houses school and other supplies of the city government.

A Facebook post of Yes to Children Assistance Program (YCAP) initiated by Sorsogon City Mayor Ma. Ester Hamor confirmed that the majority of the school supplies that were stored there were meant to be given to elementary students in the city.

The same post announced that there would be a delay in the distribution of the said assistance for students.

“A sad (event) but we will still continue with the distribution of school supplies,” it wrote.

The Bureau of Fire Protection Sorsogon has yet to release a report about the cause of the fire.
