MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rainfall is expected in some Northern Luzon areas due to the shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday.

In its 11 a.m. heavy rainfall outlook, Pagasa warned of heavy to intense rains, ranging from 100 to 200 millimeters (mm), over Cagayan and Isabela from Friday to Sunday noon.

Meanwhile, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao may see moderate to heavy rains ranging from 50 to 100 mm from Friday to Saturday noon.

According to Pagasa, floods may be experienced in areas identified in the heavy rainfall outlook, particularly in urbanized, low-lying, or river-adjacent regions.

In an earlier weather update, Pagasa said three weather systems affect the country: the northeast monsoon or amihan, the easterlies, and the shear line, where warm and cold winds meet.
