Stabbing in Bilibid leaves 1 inmate dead, 2 hurt

An inmate was killed while two others were wounded in a stabbing incident on Thursday at the maximum security compound of New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
The incident happened at Gate 1-A of Quadrant 4 of the compound at 7:15 a.m., the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
The identities of prisoners involved were withheld by BuCor pending the notification of their families. “This approach emphasizes the Bureau’s commitment to maintaining dignity and respect for the families of the [persons deprived of liberty] affected by this unfortunate event,” it said.

It also ordered the superintendents of all operating prison and penal farms to take precautionary measures to ensure “that no retaliation will transpire following the incident.” —FRANCES MANGOSING
