DILG vows to use its P279-B budget for 2025 'responsibly'

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has committed to utilize its P279-billion budget for 2025 “responsibly, judiciously, and prudently” in support of the agenda of the Marcos administration.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla also welcomed the approval of the P6.32-trillion national budget.

“As the Department with the fourth-highest allocation at P279.1 billion, we extend our gratitude to  President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. for his support of our mandate to foster excellence in local governance, promote peace and order, and enhance public safety for the development of resilient and inclusive communities,” Remulla said in a statement on Wednesday.

“We assure the President, Congress, and the public of our commitment to utilize our budget responsibly, judiciously, and prudently in support of the administration’s agenda for prosperity by fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the Filipino people,” he added.

The Department of Education received the largest portion of the 2025 General Appropriations Act budget, with funding amounting to P1.055 trillion.

It was followed by the Department of Public Works and Highways with P1.007 trillion.
