Coast Guard monitors over 28,000 passengers on New Year's Eve


MANILA, Philippines — Over 28,000 passengers were monitored in ports across the country on New Year’s Eve on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). 

The PCG reported that it monitored 28,423 passengers from midnight until 6:00 a.m.

“The PCG monitored 14,863 outbound passengers and 13,560 inbound passengers in all ports nationwide,” it said. 

A total of 2,724 PCG frontline personnel were also deployed to its 16 districts and inspected 211 vessels and 21 motorized bancas.

The PCG has placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert until January 3, 2025 to manage the influx of port passengers traveling for the holiday season.
