Abono party-list president gunned down in Pangasinan

CALASIAO, PANGASINAN — The president of Abono party-list was shot while on his way home in this town on Saturday night, December 7.

Ponciano Onia, Jr., 59, was driving his car along Lubong village on his way to his residence in Barangay (village) San Leon, Umingan when he was shot by still unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle at 7:45 p.m.

Onia sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the Umingan Community Hospital but died at 8:40 p.m. while undergoing treatment.

His two employees who were with him inside his car were not hit.

The police found eight fired cartridges for a caliber .45 gun and two jacketed deformed card bullets.

Onia was running for re-election in the May 2025 polls.
