3 dead, 25 injured in multiple-vehicle crash on Katipunan Avenue

Three people were confirmed dead after a multiple vehicle collision on Katipunan Flyover in Quezon City on Thursday evening, authorities said.

MANILA, Philippines — Three people were confirmed dead after a multiple-vehicle collision on Katipunan Flyover in Quezon City on Thursday evening, authorities said.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fatalities consisted of a female and two males, while 25 people “had sustained various degrees of injury” after the incident, which occurred at 8:33 p.m.

BFP said a passenger bus, a 10-wheeler closed van, an L300 van, 5 cars, and 16 motorcycles were involved in the crash.

“The crash caused significant disruption, with debris scattered across the area and traffic completely halted,” it said in a report.

BFP further said  that “authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision, while efforts to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow continue.”
