MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and other parts of the country will experience generally fair weather on Thursday, December 5, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In a morning weathercast, Pagasa specialist Rhea Torres said fair weather conditions are expected in areas of Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“Wala po tayong namamataan na makakapal na kaulapan na posibleng pong magdulot ng buong araw na tuloy-tuloy na mga pag-ulan. So generally fair weather conditions po tayo from Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, gayundin sa Palawan, Visayas, at Mindanao,” Torres explained.
(We are not observing any significant cloud formations that could bring continuous rainfall throughout the day. So, generally, fair weather conditions are expected across Central Luzon and Southern Luzon, as well as Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao.)

She further noted that while these areas may experience brief rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, generally good atmospheric conditions are expected to prevail.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies with light rains will persist in Batanes due to the northeast monsoon, locally termed amihan, according to Torres.
“Dahil naman po sa epekto ng northeast monsoon, magiging maulap din po ang kalangitan sa may area ng Batanes. Although ‘yung mga pag-ulan po na inaasahan natin sa may Batanes ay mahina o mga pag-ambon lamang,” the weather specialist emphasized.
(Due to the effects of the northeast monsoon, the skies over the Batanes area will also be cloudy. However, the expected rainfall in Batanes will be light or limited to drizzles.)

Pagasa added that weather in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, and the rest of Cagayan Valley will still be influenced by the shear line or the convergence of cold northeast monsoons and warm easterlies from the Pacific Ocean.
“Dahil po sa epekto nitong shear line ay consistent po na meron po tayong namamataan na kumpol na kaulapan na nakakapekto sa may hilagang Luzon. So asahan po natin na ilang areas ng northern Luzon ay makakaranas ng maulan na panahon ngayong araw,” Torres said.
(Due to the effects of the shear line, we consistently observe cloud clusters affecting northern Luzon. As a result, several areas in northern Luzon can expect rainy weather throughout the day.)
Pagasa did not raise a gale warning over any of the country’s major seaboards on Thursday.
However, residents in the coastal areas of Northern Luzon were advised to exercise caution as moderate to rough sea conditions are still expected in the region.
