2 Comelec commissioners to retire in February 2025, says Garcia
MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia said two commissioners are set to retire by February next year, or three months ahead of the 2025 midterm polls.
Garcia said in a press conference at the Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros District, Manila, on Friday that Comelec Commissioners Socorro Inting and Marlon Casquejo “will be officially retiring on February 2, 2025,” leaving the six-man constitutional body with just four commissioners by then.
Garcia hailed Inting and Casquejo for their crucial role in the successful conduct of the 2019 and 2022 elections.
