MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted Don Marcelino town in Davao Occidental on Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter of the quake was located east of Don Marcelino and it occurred at 4:34 p.m. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 56 kilometers.
The agency also said aftershocks are expected.
The tremor was felt in the following areas:
- Intensity III: Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Malungon and Alabel, Sarangani
- Intensity II: Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental; General Santos City; and Tupi, South Cotabato
- Intensity I: Magsaysay, Davao del Sur
Phivolcs also reported that its scale recorded the earthquake in the following areas:
- Instrumental III: Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Alabel, Sarangani
- Intensity II: Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental; Malungon, Sarangani, General Santos City; Matanao, Davao del Sur; and Tupi, South Cotabato
- Intensity I: Sarangani, Davao Occidental; Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; Tampakan, T’Boli. and Banga, South Cotabato; Kidapawan City; Cotabato; Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat; and Davao City
