MMDA says number coding scheme remains in effect on Monday, Nov 18

MANILA, Philippines — The expanded number coding scheme will remain in effect on Monday despite the inclement weather brought by Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi), according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The MMDA made the announcement through its Facebook page on Sunday night.

“Ipinatutupad ng MMDA ang Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program o number coding scheme mula 7 a.m.-10 a.m. at 5 p.m.-8 p.m. bukas (The MMDA is implementing the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or number coding scheme from 7 a.m.-10 a.m. and 5 p.m.-8 p.m. tomorrow.),” the agency wrote.

“Bawal bumiyahe ang mga sasakyan na may plakang nagtatapos sa 1 at 2 na sakop ng coding tuwing Lunes (Vehicles with license plates ending in 1 and 2 covered by coding are prohibited from traveling on Mondays.),” it added.

MMDA said vehicles with affected plate numbers may only travel from 10:01 a.m. to 4:59 p.m. and 8:01 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day (Tuesday).

Meanwhile, public transport vehicles, transport network vehicle services, motorcycles, marked vehicles of media, firetrucks, ambulances, and vehicles transporting perishable or essential goods are exempted from the coding scheme.
