PDEA destroys P486.82-M worth of illegal drugs in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed illegal drugs worth a total of P486.82 million in Cavite on Thursday, Nov. 14.

PDEA incinerated 65.17 kilograms of shabu (crystal meth) and 234.91 kgs of marijuana at the Integrated Waste Management Incorporated facility in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City.

The confiscated substances were accumulated by the agency’s anti-drug operations and were no longer needed as evidence in court, according to PDEA.

Also on Thursday, the agency’s officials in Central Visayas burned P489.42 million worth of illegal drugs at a crematorium in Cebu City.

In a statement, PDEA said its practice of destroying the confiscated drugs were in compliance with the Dangerous Drugs Act to “curb illegal drug recycling and pilferage.”
