Chinese man shot in Parañaque; suspects with P1.2-M in drugs nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — Parañaque City police arrested three foreign nationals for shooting a Chinese man and for possessing drugs worth P1.2 million during their arrest on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The victim was identified as “Li”, a 35-year-old Chinese national who works as a money changer employee in Parañaque City.

He was shot at a residential complex in Barangay Don Galo on Wednesday morning and was taken to Juan De Dios Hospital in Pasay City for treatment.

According to the Southern Police District’s (SPD) report, alias “Syncell”, a 32-year-old Filipino online agent who also lives in the complex, witnessed the incident.

Officers from the Sto. Niño Police Sub-station responded to the scene and interviewed the victim, who identified three suspects.

The suspects named were alias “Shi”, a 31-year-old Chinese national from Makati City; alias “Sui”, a 33-year-old Chinese national from Parañaque City; and alias “Edwin”, a 39-year-old Cameroonian national from Pasay City.

A hot pursuit operation later that day led to the arrest of the three suspects.

At the scene, operatives recovered 15 sealed plastic sachets and one bottle said to contain shabu (crystal meth), two unsealed plastic sachets, one bottle containing an unidentified liquid and two bottles of unidentified tablets.

The confiscated drugs weighing 200 grams were estimated by the police to be worth P1.2 million.

These were then turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for analysis.

Four tooters, two flasks, five tubes and three butane gas canisters were also found at the scene, according to the SPD report on Wednesday evening.

Officers also seized one 9mm Glock 19 pistol, one magazine, 10 live ammunition rounds, two empty shells, one slag bullet and two pointed weapons.

The suspects face complaints for frustrated murder and violations of the Dangerous Drugs Act and the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
