Corona still won’t resign

MANILA, Philippines – Standing firm, Chief Justice Renato Corona on Friday told the Senate, acting as an impeachment court, that he would not resign.

“Hindi po [No I won’t],” Corona said when asked by Senate Pro Tempore Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada if he would resign.

Instead, Corona reiterated his resignation call against Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales for her alleged failure to prove that he had a $10 million bank deposit.

Corona admitted owning only $2.4 million in four banks but not $10 million or $12 million as alleged by the Ombudsman.

“Never. I never at anytime had $10-11-12 million,” the Chief Justice said.
