Teen, 2 others nabbed for illegal gambling; drugs worth P136,000 seized

MANILA, Philippines — Taguig City police apprehended three individuals for illegal gambling on Tuesday evening, Nov. 12. During the arrest, P136,000 worth of drugs were also seized.

Alias “Ervin”, 17; alias “Crisanto”, 38; and alias “Biviana”, 57, were playing the card game “tong-its” when they were caught by police officer who were on routine foot patrol at Barangay Santa Ana in Taguig City at 7:10 p.m.

Presidential Decree 1602 penalizes unauthorized games, including card games, that involve wagers of money or anything of value.

According to the police report, upon procedural search during the arrest, “Crisanto” and “Biviana” were found in possession of four heat-sealed plastic sachets said to contain 20 grams of shabu (crystal meth).

The Southern Police District added that the two suspects also violated the Dangerous Drug Act.
