The case fatality rate (CFR) for dengue decreased this year, down to 0.26 percent per 100 cases as of Oct. 26, compared to 0.34 percent in 2023, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Thursday.

“This is likely attributed to better health-seeking practices and improved healthcare delivery,” the DOH said.

As of October, a total of 314,785 dengue cases nationwide were reported, although the numbers have been going down.

There was an eight-percent decrease from Sept. 29 to Oct. 12, with 21,097 cases compared to 23,032 between Sept. 15 and Sept. 28.

The DOH added that all regions nationwide did not register an increase within the monitoring period except for the National Capital Region (from 2,765 cases to 3,002 cases), Central Luzon (from 2,219 to 2,351) and Calabarzon (from 2,907 to 3,513).
