MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Marce (international name: Yinxing) is likely to make another landfall over the coast of northwestern Cagayan on Thursday evening while Tropical cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 is still up over three areas in Northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Marce made landfall over Santa Ana, Cagayan at 3:40 p.m. 

It maintained its strength with a  maximum wind speed of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 240 kph while moving west at 10 kph.

Pagasa also issued storm surge, heavy rainfall and typhoon-force wind warnings in parts of Northern Luzon.

Storm surge, heavy rainfall alert!!!

Pagasa also warned that the following areas may experience “potentially life threatening conditions due to typhoon-force winds, storm surge inundation, and torrential rainfall” regardless of the position of the eye of the typhoon:

  • Babuyan Islands
  • Northern portions of mainland Cagayan
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Apayao 

Pagasa added that Marce is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday afternoon or evening while the possibility of it developing into a super typhoon category is still not ruled out.
