MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recorded a total of 257,403 travelers or passengers in the country’s ports on Wednesday morning, few days after the long weekend for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Of this figure, the PCG said that 123,209 are inbound passengers, while 134,194 are outbound passengers.
“There were 4,250 deployed frontline personnel, and 16 PCG Districts have inspected 1,643 vessels and 1,762 motorbancas,” the PCG also said in a report.
The Coast Guard’s Undas operations including districts, stations, and sub-stations were on heightened alert until Tuesday (November 5) in a bid to manage the influx of passengers at ports.
To further ensure public safety, the Philippine National Police has also deployed more than 31,000 personnel to safeguard terminals and critical areas of convergence. — Emmanuel John Abris, INQUIRER.net intern
