MANILA, Philippines — Incumbent Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan secured the top spot in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) mayoral survey.
The survey was conducted from October 20 to 24, 2024 and commissioned by Mr. Salvador Policarpio.
Of the 1,000 respondents polled, 81 percent or 570 people said they will vote for Malapitan in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is coming in second, with 15 percent or 109 people saying they will vote for him.
The other five candidates included on the list were Danny Villanueva (0.4 percent), Dumagat Tribes Bong Gabijan (0.3 percent), Ronnie Malunes (0.2 percent), Jun Anquilan (0.1 percent) and Richard Cañete (0.1 percent).
SWS said the survey used face-to-face interviews of Caloocan City residents and registered voters, with 400 respondents from the 1st District, 300 in the 2nd District, and 300 in the 3rd District.
The sampling has an error margin of ±3 percent for Total Caloocan City, ±5 percent for the 1st District, and ±6 percent for the 2nd and 3rd District.
The poll firm also used structured questionnaire with visuals to ask the survey question: “Kung ang eleksyon ay gaganapin ngayon, sino po ang pinakamalamang ninyong iboboto bilang Mayor ng Lungsod ng Caloocan?”
(If the elections were held today, who would you most probably vote for as mayor of the city of Caloocan?)
“Narito po ang listahan ng mga kandidato,” it added.
