TACLOBAN CITY — Two fire incidents broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, Oct. 30, while a power outage left the city in darkness.

The first incident occurred in a densely populated area of Barangay 62-A in the Sagkahan district around 1:29 a.m., followed by a second blaze in the V&G Subdivision at 1:57 a.m., according to Tacloban City Fire Director Chief Inspector Anthony de Paz.

No injuries were reported in both incidents.

While investigations are ongoing, authorities suspect that a lighted candle might have caused the fire in Barangay 62-A.

“We were awakened by the fire, and we just ran out,” Pagador said.

In V&G Subdivision, one house, owned by Rayzel Eval, was razed.

Damage in both fires was pegged at P800,000.

The fire incidents happened when a citywide blackout struck at around 11 p.m..
