Legazpi City resumes search for woman swept away by flood

LEGAZPI CITY — Authorities resumed search operations on Friday (Oct. 25) for a 43-year-old woman who was swept away by floodwaters during the onslaught of Tropical Storm Kristine.

According to Chona Miña, village chairman of Bonga, the woman was crossing a bridge on Tuesday night when she was carried off by the overflowing waters.

Search teams, including K-9 units, have been scouring river channels in nearby villages since Thursday in an effort to locate the missing woman.

As of Friday morning, Bicol police reported 26 fatalities caused by landslides, drowning and other storm-related incidents, with at least nine people injured across the region’s six provinces.

The Office of Civil Defense in Bicol also reported five missing fishermen from Masbate province. INQ
