13 fishers from boats battered by Kristine rescued off Samar town

At least 13 fishermen were rescued off the waters of Tagapul-an, Samar after their fishing boats were battered by strong winds and heavy rains due to tropical storm Kristine.

TACLOBAN CITY – At least 13 fishermen were rescued off the coast of Tagapul-an, Samar after their fishing boats were battered by strong winds and heavy rains due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

Based on the report of the Tagapul-an municipal police station, one of these fishermen was from Cataingan, Masbate while the were from Tabango, Leyte.

The fisherman rescued from Cataingan, Masbate was identified as Jerry Mondido, 42.

The fisherman was found at about 8:30 am on Wednesday, Oct.22, and was brought to the rural health unit where he was provided with food and clothes.

The 12 other fishermen from Tabango were rescued along the shoreline in Barangay Guinbarucan at about 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The fishermen were on board of two fishing boats that departed from their village of Inangatan Burabon, Tabango on Wednesday afternoon.

They were identified as Renato Pelayo 58; Ian Piamonte 43; Roni Apondor, 50; Torning Caminiro, 60; Regie Itang, 23; Rekeboy Adol, 53; Ginve Damayo,47; Makoy Damayo, 22; Janpol Harina, 43; Macmac Aldren, 26; Darwin Dela Cruz, 21; and Gankris Ancito, 30.
