Another LPA spotted outside PAR

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau monitored another low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was last monitored some 2,520 kilometers (km) east of Eastern Visayas.

Pagasa also earlier spotted another LPA about 2,465 km east of Northeast Mindanao with a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) is now over the coastal waters of Santa Cruz in Ilocos Sur.

Kristine was moving west-southwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), carrying maximum sustained winds of 95 kph and gusts of up to 145 kph.
