Kristine’s wrath in Ilagan City: 5 villages isolated, 1,440 flee

CAUAYAN CITY, ISABELA, Philippines—Five of 91 villages in Ilagan City are either flooded or isolated because of Kristine, a severe tropical storm that hit the province of Isabela at 12:30 am on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The local government of Ilagan City told INQUIRER.net that four barangays are already under water more than neck-deep like the flooding in Sta. Barbara’s circumferential road, which is still not passable.

These barangays or parts of them are already submerged:

Purok 5 and 6 of Barangay Aggassian and Purok 2, 4 and 6 of Barangay Fugu are isolated.

The local government said that as of 7 am, 401 households, or 1,448 individuals, have evacuated—1,118 in evacuation centers and 330 outside evacuation centers.

At least 25 evacuation centers are open in Ilagan City and, according to the Public Information Office, relief packs have already been prepositioned for distribution.
