MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rainfall is expected to happen in some areas of Luzon on Thursday morning as Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) continued to lash a big portion of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In an 8 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa said that a red rainfall warning is raised in Occidental Mindoro, where serious flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas may occur. A red rainfall warning also means that more than 30 millimeters (mm) of rain will drop in the next two hours.
An orange rainfall warning was also hoisted over areas of Palawan (Busuanga, Coron, Culion, Linapacan, El Nido, Taytay, Araceli, and Dumaran) and Antique. Pagasa said these places face flooding risks, particularly in low-lying regions and areas near river channels, as well as landslides threat in landslide-prone zones.
