Storm surge warning up in northern Luzon, Bicol due to Kristine

MANILA, Philippines—State meteorologists on Wednesday morning warned that tropical storm Kristine (international name: Trami) might cause a storm surge within the next 48 hours in low-lying coastal communities in northern Luzon and parts of Bicol.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the following communities may see a storm surge from 2.1 to 3.0 meters, advising evacuation:

Pagasa also advised residents to cancel all marine activities, stay away from the coast or beaches, and follow updates from the weather bureau.

Due to storm Kristine, Pagasa raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 over areas in Luzon. It is expected to make landfall in either Isabela or Aurora province on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning.
