MANILA, Philippines — All trips at the Calapan City Port were canceled on Tuesday, October 22, due to bad weather brought by tropical storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

In an advisory, the Calapan City Public Safety Department (Calapan CPSD) said sea trips were canceled at 11 a.m. as Batangas City was placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1.

It also advised travelers that vehicles crossing the Batangas Pier must line up at the Sta. Isabel Road to manage traffic entering Calapan City Pier.

According to port authorities, a number pass must also be secured from their office.

The Calapan City port is part of the 919-kilometer Strong Republic Nautical Highway, which connects mainland Luzon to Western Visayas and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

As of 11 a.m., Batangas was among the 43 areas placed under TCWS No. 1 due to the effects of tropical cyclone Kristine.

According to the state weather bureau, the tropical storm packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and a gustiness of up to 80 kph. It was last spotted some 335 kilometers (km) east of Virac, Catanduanes.
