PNP Spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said the PNP-Crime Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) also subpoenaed documents.
“Meron mga inisyuhan, nagpadala ng subpoena ang CIDG (there were subpoenas issued, the CIDG sent them) to some particular individuals, without naming them, that they think would somehow shed more light in this case and of course,” said Fajardo in a press conference.
“Some documents were also subpoenaed by the CIDG because we believe these personalities and documents would somehow corroborate ‘yung theory na tinitingnan natin (the theory that we are investigating) with respect to this case,” she added.
Fajardo did not identify the individuals, but said they are not police officers.
The PNP earlier announced that the CIDG will be filing formal complaints against former police colonel Royina Garma and resigned National Police Commission Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo for the killing of Barayuga.
Barayuga was shot dead in July 2020 on his way home from the PCSO headquarters in Mandaluyong City by a motorcycle-riding assassin.
