MANILA, Philippines — Classes on Tuesday, October 22 have been suspended in parts of Luzon and the Visayas as Tropical Depression (TD) Kristine approaches.
In its 5 p.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services administration (Pagasa) said that Kristine may develop into a tropical storm in the next 12 hours.
Tuesday classes are suspended in the following areas:
Luzon
- Calauag, Quezon: all levels, public and private
- Mulanay, Quezon: all levels, public and private
- Bulusan, Sorsogon: all levels, public and private; until October 23
- Irosin, Sorsogon: all levels, public and private
- Sorsogon City: all levels, public and private
- Santa Magdalena, Sorsogon: all levels, public and private; until October 23
Visayas
- Bohol: public and private, kindergarten to high school
- Talisay, Negros Occidental: preschool to high school
- Bacolod City, Negros Occidental: preschool to high school, public and private
- Northern Samar: all levels, public and private
The center of TD Kristine was last located some 760 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar, packing a maximum wind speed of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and a gustiness of up to 70 kph.
