TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Colonel Arnel Banzon has been appointed as the new chief of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) to replace Colonel Lorenzo Batuan.

The assumption ceremony took place on Monday, October 21, at the Camp Francisco Dagohoy Headquarters.

At the ceremony — which was presided over by Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) — Batuan turned over to Banzon the office symbol, property, equipment inventory book, unit saber, and unit color of Bohol.

The event was attended by Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado, Tagbilaran Mayor Jane Yap, former Tagbilaran Mayor Baba Yap, chiefs of police from the province, senior officers, and friends.

In his speech, Banzon said he was grateful for the trust given to him by their superiors.

“I take pride in being connected to the province of Bohol. I am here with full heart accepting this job,” Banzon. whose roots are in Bohol, said.

He said his father served at the BPPO in the 1980s.

Banzon, a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1996, said he considered it a challenge to be appointed as police director of Bohol, known as a top tourist destination in the country.

He said he would continue the Project Libreng Alagad ug Balay (LAB) of Batuan where 36 families have received decent shelters to selected beneficiaries from less fortunate families in Bohol.
