SUBIC, Zambales — Twelve fishermen returned safely on Monday to Barangay Calapandayan in this town after being rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

The PCG’s BRP Cabra was patrolling the WPS when it received a distress call on Oct. 12 about the distressed FBCA Nhiwel Jay 2.

Upon responding, the PCG discovered that the boat’s main engine had suffered a broken crankshaft pulley.

The PCG towed the vessel back to shore, ensuring the safe return of its crew to their families in Subic. INQ
