MANILA, Philippines — Barangay Marcelo Green officials and the police in Parañaque City apprehended a 27-year-old construction worker for breaking into a boarding house and stabbing a 32-year-old female graphic artist, the Southern Police District (SPD) said Tuesday.
The suspect forcibly entered the boarding house where the artist was resting due to a fever, stabbed her multiple times, and fled the scene early morning of December 31, according to the SPD report.
He was walking along West Service Road in the barangay when village officials caught him with assistance from the Parañaque City Sub-station 8.

A 10-inch kitchen knife was recovered and taken to the police for documentation.
Meanwhile, the victim was brought to the Makati Medical Center for treatment.
SPD only identified the suspect as “Jhon” and the victim as “Joana.”
While the police district said the suspect was a resident of Tondo, Manila, SPD told INQUIRER.net that he was staying in Parañaque for his job.
The suspect was reportedly drunk, SPD told INQUIRER.net in a Viber message when asked about his motives.

In its report, SPD also said the suspect is set to spend New Year’s Eve in prison and would be turned over to the district’s Investigation and Detection Management Section, awaiting a complaint for frustrated murder.
