MANILA, Philippines — Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Karlo Nograles resigned on Monday, according to Press Secretary Cesar Chavez.
“Yes, nag-submit na siya ng resignation letter as chair of Civil Service Commission (he already submitted his resignation letter as CSC chair),” Chavez told reporters through Viber.
Chavez, however, refused to say if Marcos has already accepted the letter.
In his resignation letter, Nograles expressed intent to bring the experiences he had as CSC chief and a public servant back to his roots in Davao City.
Nograles said this as he shared that he had “mixed feelings” in resigning from his post due to the “productive, fulfilling, and inspiring” time he had in the CSC.
“This experience has moved me to return to my roots in Davao City where I hope to bring and apply the lessons I have learned in my tenure as the head of the Commission, as well as my two decades in government,” said Nograles.
“…As I embark on this new path of public service, I leave the CSC extremely confident in its ability to steer our bureaucracy towards greater heights,” he added.
While Nograles did not explicitly state his next plans in the government, the Nograles clan has long been one of the major political forces in Davao City.
Whether or not his resignation would mean vying for a local post or a congressional seat in Davao City is still being confirmed by INQUIRER.net.
As of posting time, former president Rodrigo Duterte has already formalized his bid for mayor of Davao City anew, along with his sons Sebastian Duterte who will be running as vice-mayor and Paolo Duterte who is seeking reelection as first district representative.
