Typhoon Julian kills 2, affects 211,000 people – NDRRMC
MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Julian (international name: Krathon) killed at least two people and affected 211,000 individuals, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Thursday.
Based on the NDRRMC’s data, there is one fatality in the Ilocos Region and the other in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The agency said the information is still up for validation.

Meanwhile, the number of injured and missing remained at eight and one, respectively.
Of the 211,000 affected individuals, 3,171 were displaced — 922 people are inside evacuation centers, while 2,249 took shelter elsewhere.
Article continues after this advertisementIn a separate report, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said the damage caused by Julian had reached P36.34 million and it affected 1,000 farmers.
The damage covers 1,516 metric tons and 577 hectares of agricultural areas in the Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley, the DA added.
Earlier, the state weather bureau announced that Julian re-entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility around 8 a.m. on Thursday.
It was last monitored 245 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, moving east-northeastward as it carried maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts of up to 165 kph.
