MANILA, Philippines — West zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. on Tuesday reported that it recovered 560,000 cubic meters of potable water, enough to supply 3,500 customers, after cracking down on illegal connections.

Maynilad said its Non-Revenue Water Management Program, aimed at cutting water loss, had 6,900 operations from January to August 2024 that targeted unauthorized water connections, tampered meters, and unregistered lines.

Nearly 25,000 illegal connections have been closed since 2016, Maynilad reported.
