LUCENA CITY — Four suspected drug traffickers, including a jail inmate, were arrested on Tuesday, October 1, in Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna provinces. They yielded more than P890,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) and an illegal firearm, the police said.

The Police Region 4A reported on Wednesday, Oct. 2, that jail guards in Antipolo City caught an inmate around 4:50 p.m. attempting to smuggle shabu and marijuana worth P710,369.

The inmate known as “Benedicto,” had just returned from a medical check-up, and was found holding a face towel.

Upon routine inspection, the guard discovered the shabu and marijuana wrapped inside the towel.

Jail authorities immediately reported the incident to the local police, but the report did not provide further information about the suspect.

In Imus City, Cavite, police arrested a high-value trafficker identified as “Mark John” in a buy-bust operation around 3:30 p.m. in Barangay Palico 4.

The suspect was caught with one plastic sachet and a knot-tied plastic containing 22 grams of meth valued by the Dangerous Drugs Board at P149,600.
