LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle backrider died and the driver was injured early Sunday, September 29, after their vehicle hit a parked vehicle in Lucban, Quezon.

Andrew Salayong, 22, was driving his motorcycle with Alvin Martinez, 24, at the back when they hit the rear portion of a parked jeepney along the side of the road in Barangay (village) Ayuti around 1:40 a.m., the Quezon police said in a report.

Due to the strong impact of the collision, the riders, who were not wearing crash helmets, sustained grave head and body injuries.

Martinez died on the way to a hospital in the locality while Salayong will be transferred to another hospital in Lucena City for further treatment.

The police said they found no driver’s license from Salayong.
