THE Dept. of Education (DepEd) is ready for the implementation of K+12 next month.

According to Dr. Carmelita Dulangon, DepEd Central Visayas regional director, teachers involved in the K+12 program have been required to attend five-day orientation seminars that started on May 7 to June 2 this year.

“Five days are allotted for each batch of the seminar. The seminars are conducted in the DepEd Ecotech Center for Cebu City teachers, but for those living in the province, seminars are conducted in their respected areas,” said Dulangon.

Viviana Aytona, kindergarten coordinator of Cebu City Central School, said they have enough classrooms and teachers for the implementation of the new curriculum.

According to Aytona, Cebu City Central had prepared nine classrooms and nine teachers for the K+12.

“Teachers handling kindergarten last year will also handle the same classes this year, but unlike other schools, we are not allowed to handle elementary classes. We will only focus on our assigned classes,” Aytona said.

Each session will have 30 pupils.

“We are expecting 420 enrollees for kindergarten classes. But if it will exceed, we will hire new teachers to make sure that there will be no overpopulation in any classroom,” Aytona said.
