Davao police chief Torre named as new CIDG director
MANILA, Philippines — Police Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III has been named as the new Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) director.
Torre made the confirmation in a message to reporters on Tuesday night.
Asked when this would be effective, Torre simply said: “Bukas (Tomorrow).”

He will replace Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco. Before this, Torre served as the chief of Police Regional 11 (Davao Region).
Article continues after this advertisementUnder his stint, Torre led the service of the arrest warrant against televangelist and alleged rapist Apollo Quiboloy, who surrendered to authorities last September 8 after a 24-hour ultimatum.
Aside from this, Torre was the chief of the Quezon City Police District who resigned on August 30, 2023, after receiving backlash for holding a press conference with dismissed policeman, Wilfredo Gonzales, who was caught on video threatening a cyclist with a gun.
