MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring rain in parts of Northern Luzon, while the rest of the country will have “improved” weather, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday.

In a morning forecast, Pagasa said Tropical Depression Igme no longer has any direct effect in the country after it exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday.

“Yung tropical depression na mino-monitor natin sa labas ng PAR ay huling namataan sa layong 535 km north northwest Itbayat, Batanes. Ito na nga si Igme – wala nang direct effect sa ating bansa at kasalukuyan, patuloy nitong i-e-enhance ang southwest monsoon o habagat,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

(The tropical depression we are monitoring outside the PAR was last spotted at 535 km north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. This is Igme. It has no more direct effect in our country and currently, it will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat.)

“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng bansa ay improving weather conditions na tayo maliban nga sa tsansa ng isolated na mga pag-ulan dulot ng localized thunderstorms,” she added.

(Meanwhile, the country’s weather is improving except for the chance of isolated showers caused by localized thunderstorms.)

Castañeda likewise reported that Pagasa has not monitored any weather disturbance that may affect the country over the next few days.
