Marcos leads turnover of Mindanao mobile clinics

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday asked local government units in Mindanao to enhance the utilization of new mobile health clinics in their provinces.

In his speech on Friday during the ceremonial turnover of 28 mobile health clinics for Mindanao, Marcos emphasized that modern equipment would be useless if not utilized.

Each mobile clinic costs P9.9 million and will be manned by healthcare professionals.

“Through these services, we can prevent or address illnesses such as tuberculosis, diabetes, kidney disease, and others,” Marcos said in Filipino.

“But no matter how advanced and modern our equipment inside the mobile clinic is, it will be worthless if it is not used to serve the people. This is where the support and services of our local governments are needed. You are the bridge between the Filipino people and the national government to ensure the success of this program,” he continued/

Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, who was also present at the event, said that all 82 provinces in the Philippines had already received their mobile clinics, and the ceremony marked the final tranche of distribution.

The government is also planning to buy 20 more mobile clinics to be distributed in the most populated municipalities and provinces across the country, he added.
