MANILA, Philippines — Over 2,000 families affected by the massive Tondo district fire received an “emergency financial aid” from the local government of Manila.
Every 2,006 families in Aroma area received P10,000 from the local government of Manila after the city council passed a resolution, which allowed the urgent release of the aid.
The aid distribution, led by Mayor Honey Lacuna, was held on Tuesday.
The local government said the blaze displaced 6,726 individuals, including 3,862 minors, 2,580 adults, 39 persons of disability (PWD) minors, 25 adult PWDs, and 220 senior citizens.
Among the affected residents, the local government said 1,559 owned their homes, 297 had rented units, and 150 had shared accommodations.

Seven were injured due to the fire which reached the third alarm in Tondo on Sept. 14, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
BFP said nine buildings were affected by the fire, which led to a P2.5 million worth of damage.—EJ Abris, trainee
