Walang Pasok: Class suspensions on Tuesday, September 17

LIST: Areas with class suspension on Sept. 17 due to TS Enteng TUESDAY

MANILA, Philippines — More local government units (LGUs) have suspended classes on Tuesday, September 17, due to inclement weather triggered by Tropical Depression Gener.

Below is a list of LGUs that have so far suspended in-person classes, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

  • Malabon City: kindergarten to grade 12 in public and private schools
  • Navotas City: kindergarten to grade 12, including ALS
  • Quezon City: daycare to senior high school in public and private schools
  • Manila City: kindergarten to grade 12 in public and private schools
  • Marikina City: all levels in public and private schools
  • Caloocan City: all levels in public and private schools
  • Mandaluyong City: preschool to grade 12, including ALS in public and private schools
  • San Juan City: all levels in public and private schools

Meanwhile, the following LGUs have earlier announced suspension of their classes on September 17:

Tropical Depression Gener was tracked early Tuesday morning near Alicia, Isabela.

It has a maximum sustained wind speed of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, a gustiness of up to 70 kph, and it is moving west at 30 kph.

The northern part of Metro Manila made up of Quezon City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Marikina City, city of Manila, San Juan City, and Mandaluyong City – is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) number one.

Other areas in Luzon under Signal No. 1 are as follows:

  • Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands
  •  Isabela
  • Quirino
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Apayao
  • Kalinga
  • Abra
  • Ifugao
  • Mountain Province
  • Benguet
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • La Union<
  • Pangasinan
  • Zambales
  • Tarlac
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Pampanga
  • Bulacan
  • the northern and central portions of Bataan: Dinalupihan, Orani, Hermosa
  • Aurora
  • the northern portion of Quezon: General Nakar, Infanta including Polillo Islands
  • the northern portions of Rizal: Rodriguez, San Mateo

The state weather bureau, in its 5 a.m. forecast on Tuesday, said Gener may exit the Philippine area of responsibility between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
