MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday denied that he is sick amid rumors that he had a medical emergency.
“It’s totally and completely fake, I do not even have a cold, I do not have anything wrong with me, I’m fine,” Marcos said in a chance interview on the sidelines of a situation briefing in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
Marcos reminded the public to be wary of “fake news,” adding that such information should only be sourced from credible sources.
“Do I look sick? ‘Yan ang kailangan nating bantayan, mga fake news na ganyan, (that is what we have to watch out for, fake news like that) unless it comes from a credible source,” he said.
“Ang dami kong kaibigan tumawag sa akin, ‘Okay ka ba? Okay ka ba?’ Wala! Kalokohan lang ‘yan,” he added.
(Many of my friends phoned me, ‘Are you okay, are you okay?’ Nothing! That’s just nonsense.)
According to Marcos, he was in Malacañang for almost the entire day on Tuesday as he conducted a command conference and spent the rest of the day reading his briefs and doing paperwork.
“Nagulat lang ako when they said medical emergency,” Marcos said as he laughed the rumor off.
