LUCENA CITY — Classes in public and private schools in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region were suspended on Monday, Sept. 2, to protect the safety of students and teachers from the onslaught of Tropical Storm Enteng.

Mayor Mark Alcala of Lucena City, a highly urbanized city in the region, likewise suspended the classes in the locality, the capital of Quezon province.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said TS Enteng is moving northwestward at 15 km per hour, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gusts of 70 kph.

The weather bureau hoisted tropical cyclone wind signals in 11 areas due to the threat of strong winds with speed of 39 to 61 kph, but with “minimal to minor threat to life and property.” INQ
