No court holiday on Tuesday, says Court Administrator Marquez
MANILA, Philippines—Supreme Court Spokesman and Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez said there will be no court holiday on Tuesday, or the day when Chief Justice Renato Corona testifies before the Senate, acting as impeachment court.
Court employees started the day with a candle lighting activity followed by an interfaith mass before he proceeds to the Senate but Jojo Guerrero, President of the Supreme Court Employees Association (SCEAP) said they cannot prevent if some court employees prefer to go on a half day work to go to the Supreme Court and show support for the Chief Justice.
Meanwhile, Manila Regional Trial Court Judge Silvino Pampilo of the Manila RTC Judges Association said they have preferred a skeletal staff to make sure that court operations will not be affected.
Corona is the highest official of the judiciary. Various court and judges’ organizations have shown support for the Chief Justice.
